Cityscape Collage
3rd graders are starting a cityscape collage. We began by talking about what we see in a city, and then discussed the foreground, middleground, and background of our artwork. The first step in our collage was to create a printing plate, and make some prints using a printmaking process.

3D Forms
3rd graders began by tracing and free-hand drawing different 2-Dimensional shapes. Then they drew a vanishing point, and connected all of their shapes to the vanishing point with a line. This created the illusion of the shapes moving in space. Next, we will add shading and color to enhance our 3D illusion.

3rd graders practiced creating value by increasing or decreasing pressure on their colored pencil. They used this technique to create a value scale. Then they added shading to their shapes to create the illusion of 3-Dimensional form and space.
Drawing from Observation
3rd graders are practicing their drawing skills by drawing what they see! They have drawn pumpkins and candy corn, and even practiced their shading skills using colored pencils and oil pastels!
